I have found that there is definitely a learning curve with the Timeline for Brands. I finally have the basics figured out. Of course, you guys get to benefit from this. This is what we are focusing on today:
What you will learn today:
1. How to specify which tabs to display.
2. How to Change the banner for your tabs.
3. How to manage what is displayed in the about area.
These are fairly simple things to change, but there aren’t many of us that have the time to sit and figure it all out. (Its my job!) I’ve taken care of the leg work for you, so you can get it done and get back to your passion. Sounds good, doesn’t it?
How to specify which tabs to display:
This is really great for marketing because you can decide which apps you want to display.
Click on the drop down with the number (mine is 16), you will see a box showing all of your page apps.
Choose one you want to be featured.
Click the pencil, for the drop down.
Choose which you want to switch it with (one of the 4 that are already featured)
note: Photos must stay the first.
How to Change the banner for your tabs.
Scroll to the very top of your timeline (above the cover photo) to your Admin Panel
Click Manage, then Edit Page from the drop down
Select Apps from the left menu,
Choose an app that you want to change the image for.
Click edit setting under the description.
In the pop up, click “change” beside custom tab image.
Upload your photo.
That was easy, too!
How to manage what is displayed in the about area.
This is another great place you can promote your brand.
Click on the about rectangle.
Edit the areas of your choice.
Keep in mind: Not all fields are present from the main page, so play around with it and decide what works best for your brand.
You can put as much information here as you want, when the “fan” clicks about they see the information too!
I know a lot of people were not very excited about this change, but I believe there is a lot of untapped potential in the timeline.
I think the timeline is the best layout for brands. I have many many ideas to share with you in the future.
